Former five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is preparing for his next fight to further cement his position as the king of the exhibition ring. He is currently set to face Deji for yet another sensational showdown. However, his recent public workout had a bit of fun drama revolving around it. And he went on to challenge Anthony Taylor for a sparring session.

Mayweather will face Deji at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on November 14, 2022. And Taylor is set to face Jack Fincham as a part of Mayweather’s undercard. In the meantime, Mayweather had organized a public workout for his local fans in Dubai.

Moreover, he was performing his pad routine at the event when he was called out by Taylor. It should be mentioned that he had previously called Mayweather out during the press conference. He said, “I think what we really want to see is ‘Pretty Boy’ Anthony Taylor vs. ‘Money’ Floyd Mayweather.”

He further added, “Now that’s a fight. I’m the most qualified fighter to be fighting Floyd Mayweather in exhibition.”

While Taylor talked big during the press conference. He was unable to put his words into action. Fast forward to the workout session, Mayweather initially laughed off Taylor’s taunts.

But Taylor did not realize that he was treading on eggshells with his continued taunting.

Floyd Mayweather challenges Anthony Taylor to a sparring session

It should be mentioned that it did not take long for Floyd Mayweather to respond to Anthony Taylor’s consistent taunting. In fact, much to Taylor’s surprise, he challenged him to a sparring session.

Mayweather said, “You got your boxing stuff? I’m putting you on the spot.”

He even proceeded to don his heavy gloves and groin guard in preparation for the same. However, Taylor did not stick up to his taunts. He backed out, stating that he has an upcoming fight. And that he will not fight for free.

Fans share their thoughts on the potential sparring session

Boxing fans were rather confused by Taylor’s antics. And even took to social media to share their thoughts about the same.

A user felt that Taylor missed his only opportunity to step inside the ring with Mayweather.

Meanwhile, a lot of fans mentioned that they would have not missed the chance to spar Mayweather.

 

Similarly, a few fans mentioned that Taylor missed the opportunity to spar with Mayweather. And that it would have given more exposure to his upcoming fight.

However, a user was also quick to point out that Taylor’s taunts were disrespectful to Mayweather.
