Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face reality show celebrity, former mixed martial artist, and now pro boxer Aaron Chalmers at London’s O2 Arena on February 25. The forty-five-year former world champion reportedly plans to participate in at least five exhibition matches this year. Active in the exhibition circuit since 2018, last year “The Money” participated in three, starting with Don Moore, his former sparring partner, in Abu Dhabi. It was a non-scoring fight. However, the next six months saw him fend off challenges from Mikuru Asakura and Deji Olatunji in Japan and Dubai, respectively.
Despite his forty-five years, fans saw Mayweather Jr. sail through each fight with much ease. It shouldn’t surprise anyone, given that he retired with a perfect score of fifty wins against nil losses in a two-decade-long professional career. Critics might frequently question “The Money’s” defense-oriented approach inside the ring. However, there’s no denying that he faced some of the biggest and toughest names of his time, like Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao, and Oscar De La Hoya, to name a few.

A frequent comparison favorite, Mayweather Jr., got pulled for a fresh round of appraisal when fans came across an old picture.
Before the Don Moore fight in Abu Dhabi, Floyd Mayweather Jr. met former Super Middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe in Dubai. As a result, the pic taken in Dubai sometime in January last year received a fresh lease of life yesterday.

@BoxingHistory shared the photograph of the two boxing legends. It also mentioned that if the two former champions’ records are combined, it will stand at a whooping ninety-six against zero losses!
Like Mayweather Jr., Joe Calzaghe, whose career lasted fifteen years from 1993 to 2008, retired undefeated. His record stood at forty-six wins, out of which thirty-two came via knockouts.

Some fans stated their positions on the two greats and their respective achievements.
Reactions from fans to the iconic photo
Like @Pasco237, who opined that most overlook “The Pride of Wales,” he should be more well-known.
Calzaghe doesn’t get the recognition he deserves

According to @CreacyHarold, another great Sugar Ray Robinson stood way above the two. He fought nearly two hundred fights, out of which winning in 174. More so, 101 of his wins were knockout victories. He told the Twitter handle to restate the details! To put the record straight, per Boxrec, Sugar Ray Robinson had 109 knockout victories in his three-decade-long career.
Sugar Ray Robinson had twice as many fights (201) and wins (174) as their combined record. And he had more knockouts (101) than they had fights!

@StewartLongsta1 lamented that while Mayweather Jr. turned into a “ringside clown,” Calzaghe remained the consummate professional. Someone in his circle needs to tell it like it is.
Calzaghe has remained the ultimate professional while Mayweather has turned into the Clown at the Circus!
Someone close to him need to be honest.— Stewart Longstaff (@StewartLongsta1) February 2, 2023
@lifeazul termed it an insult to the sport of fighting when Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought Con(or) McGregor (with pun intended). Calzaghe was, without a doubt, the more successful and credible boxer.
Mayweather fought Con(or) McGregor.
I’ll say that again,… Mayweather fought CON(or) MCGREGOR!
A bigger disgrace to the fight game I can not recall!
Calzaghe was EASILY the more prolific (not to mention, LEGITIMATE) boxer of the two, period… full stop… end of discussion.

@gswillliams admired that both Calzaghe and Mayweather Jr. were so brilliant in the ring that they could adapt to and defeat opponents using any style.
Calzaghe and Mayweather both had the boxing IQ to adapt and overcome any style they went against.

On a funny note, @J0nesy_OmegaMan highlighted how each passing day, Calzaghe more closely resembled Johnny Clayton, the pro darts champion. And suggested that he should take up the sport!
Calzaghe gets to look more like Johnny Clayton ever day, maybe he should start throwing the arrows. #Lovethedarts #PremierLeagueDarts 🎯🎯🏴

Finally, @boydhunt8 wished for both the legends to have a great time in retirement. They deserved it.

Fans and followers will continue agreeing – disagreeing as far as the records are concerned. Mayweather Jr. and Calzaghe contributed significantly to boxing in the last decade of the 20th century and the first two decades of the 21st. Their presence captivated millions of fans and converted more who previously associated boxing with the Heavyweight division.
