Eight years after the 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather finally revealed why he did not fight the former “a lot sooner” than when he actually did. While Manny Pacquiao believed he won the fight against Mayweather, a number of Mayweather’s critics were of the opinion that ‘TBE’ did not fight ‘Pac Man’ “at the right time“. Well, Floyd Mayweather disagrees and believes he could not have fought Pacquiao at a better time.

While Mayweather and Pacquiao together earned a figure of $300 million, as per Forbes, the fight potentially generated $6oo million in total from “tickets, PPV, sponsorships, merchandise, closed-circuit and international rights“. As per the 40/60 split of the purse, while Pacquiao received $120 million from the bout, Mayweather earned $180 million. Based on these figures, in his recent interview with FightHype, Floyd Mayweather answered why he did not face Pacquiao much earlier in life.

As Mayweather stated in his interaction with FightHype, a number of people branded Pacquiao “washed up” after his defeat to ‘TBE’. In their opinion, ‘Money’ did not face ‘Pac Man’ at the right time. “I’m two years older than Pacquiao. So, when I fight Pacquiao they say ‘You didn’t fight him at the right time’,” told Mayweather. However, referring to the amount the two boxers received, Mayweather argued that if it wasn’t the right time, they would have barely earned $300 million from the fight. “If $300 million ain’t the right time, then tell me when it is the right time,” added Mayweather.

According to the 46-year-old, had he faced Pacquiao “a lot sooner“, he “wouldn’t have made the money that I [Mayweather] made“. “Probably, it wouldn’t even be half of that. Probably, it would make $70 million,” argued Floyd Mayweather. In his opinion, one cannot and should not “rush life“. Likewise, Mayweather stated, “So, with me [it’s about] having patience, taking my time. You can’t rush life.
