Over the past couple of years, many former boxing icons in Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr., and more entered the boxing ring to entertain the masses. Among these elites, Oscar De La Hoya too was once in contention to make a comeback last year. De La Hoya dropped many training videos, showing his out-of-the-box prowess.

However, the former boxing sensation has now arrived with a clear stance about his fighting stint.

In a chat with Boxing Scene, De La Hoya said, “I can’t imagine myself in the ring anymore. I’m hanging up the gloves for sure and calling it a day…It’s not likely (I will fight again). I’m not feeling it. I went through so much in training. I was on it. When I trained, I left everything and my focus was 100%. It just drained me. I couldn’t handle it.” (h/t BoxingScene.com)

In 2021, De La Hoya was all set to headline Triller’s main event against Vitor Belfort. But just a few days before the fight, ‘Golden Boy’ tested positive for Covid-19 and he had to pull out from his high-voltage boxing return.

In his place, Evander Holyfield squared off with Belfort and he succumbed to a tragic first round finish by the ex-UFC elite.

Despite that, Triller was once again looking to re-align Belfort and De La Hoya in a boxing bout. But in the subsequent months, this fight didn’t materialize, and many understood that there was no chance of this fight happening.

However, De La Hoya seemed desperate, but to face another opponent.
