YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul just got played by the unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Now, he has taken to social media to clarify some of the speculation that has been floating around on the web. Earlier this month, reports revealed that Canelo has agreed to fight former undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

However, later reports suggested that Canelo would fight ‘The Problem Child’ in May, and the Crawford fight was off. Still, in one of the biggest twists in the history of boxing, Canelo seems to have taken a U-turn. The Crawford fight was back on the table for September in Las Vegas, with reports suggesting Canelo had signed a four-fight deal with the Saudis. This prompted Paul to take his frustration to social media.

“We had a signed contract to fight,” Paul said in a video on social media. “Here you can see Canelo’s signature and my signature to the right. Claiming he’s not fighting YouTubers. Bulls***… Claiming he’s fighting real fighters, but he’s fighting [Terence] Crawford, a 135-pound fighter, and running from a real fighter like David Benavidez. You b****.”

“The truth is, you can be bought,” Paul continued. “You’re a money-hungry squirrel chasing your next nut. The truth is, these sports-washing, shady characters are paying you hundreds of millions of dollars to stop our fight from happening because they couldn’t fathom the fact that they can’t create a bigger fight than me and you.”

Now, Paul has come clean on whether he faked Canelo’s signature on the contract. “I know none of yall have had a fight or ever signed a contract but you sign an LOI (letter of intent) and confidentiality agreement with the person you’re fighting and then you shop that agreement to different media partners and platforms,” Paul wrote on X. 

“Once you negotiate with the platforms you then sign the full length contract. Peasants.” Regardless, now the question is—will Canelo really fight William Scull next?

Canelo Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight championship against undefeated Cuban IBF titleholder William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight, part of Alvarez’s new four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, will take place early Sunday morning local time to accommodate a U.S. prime-time audience on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Alvarez seeks to reclaim the IBF title, which was stripped from him last year after he declined to face Scull. Scull later captured the vacant belt by defeating Vladimir Shishkin. This bout is seen as a tune-up for Alvarez’s highly anticipated September 13 clash with Terence Crawford in Las Vegas.
