Alvarez has vicious and ferocious uppercuts which he uses to his advantage while fighting on the inside. The most notable uppercut punch of his was against Billy Joe Saunders in the eighth round of their contest. The uppercut injured Saunders’s eye which not only determined the fight but also forced Saunders to retire. Seemingly, Alvarez is working on sharpening one of the best tools in his arsenal ahead of his next fight.

David Benavidez is the interim super middleweight champion. After his recent win against Caleb Plant, many considered him to be the mandatory fight for Alvarez.
