Bryant was an inspiration to many athletes, both on and off the court.

Zion Mayweather, the son of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one of those who are inspired by Kobe Bryant. Mayweather is no stranger to the spotlight, as he comes from a family of famous athletes. However, it seems that he wanted to honor the legacy of the late legend.

Zion posted a picture of him sporting a black robe with the words “Black Mamba” written over it. Moreover, there were also two boxing gloves designed at the bottom, making it a crossover of boxing and basketball. The robe is a tribute to Bryant, as he has certainly affected a huge number of people in Zion’s generation which is perfectly displayed with this tribute.

Zion Mayweather’s tribute to Kobe Bryant is a powerful reminder of the impact that athletes can have on the world by channeling their inner “Black Mamba”. In addition, Zion Mayweather is paying homage to one of the greatest basketball players of all time and showing his dedication to the sport.

Bryant compared himself to Floyd Mayweather during the final phase of his career

As per Slamonline, back in 2013, Bryant compared himself to ‘TBE’. He claimed that he is not as physically in shape as was in the past. However, he added that despite this he could be like Mayweather who managed to keep up with the best even in his later years.

Maybe I’ll be slower, maybe I’ll lose quickness. But I have other options. It’s like Floyd Mayweather in the ring. There’s a reason he’s still at the top after all these years. He’s the most fundamentally sound boxer of all time. He can fight myriad styles at myriad tempos. He can throw fast punches or off-speed punches, and he can throw them from odd angles.”

It seems that both Bryant and Mayweather shared a mutual respect for each other that has been passed down to Mayweather’s son as well. Unfortunately, the five-time NBA champion is sadly not with us to see how many athletes and people he has inspired across the world.
