NBA legend Michael Jordan is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential athletes of all time. His global fandom outside of ball stemmed from his 1985 partnership with Nike, which introduced him to even today’s younger generations. But 25-year-old boxer Ryan Garcia made a divisive comment about Jordan that sparked an internet discussion. An athlete cannot be deemed the “GOAT” based just on their performance in sport or their personal life. It is a very complex subject, and the world is better off enjoying the greats without making a comparison. However, Garcia made a strong opinion and disregarded MJ for what he did for the people.

Sneakers have grown to develop a vast number of lovers worldwide. Fans love the concept of celebrities while going footwear shopping. Talking about sneakers, boxing star Ryan Garcia appeared on the Kick Game’s episode of Shopping for Sneakers. When the host pointed to the Air Jordans during their conversation, Garcia responded with criticism. The boxer from Victorville believes that MJ hasn’t done enough for the people. He said, ”Jordan ain’t do sh*t for the people. Jordan made some shoes”.

Ryan Garcia puts Muhammad Ali in the third spot for boxing greats

‘KingRy’ has been in love with boxing since his childhood, and he always wanted to become a boxer. Not too long ago, he was in conversation with Maria Arreghini, where he was asked where he draws his inspiration from. Garcia revealed that he believes in Jesus Christ, and does not have any specific idols. However, he named soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo as a great source of inspiration. Furthermore, he named his top 3 boxers of all time. According to him, Philippine boxing legend Manny Pacquiao deserves the top spot for what he achieved in the sport. He asserted, “I got to say Manny Pacquiao because he is an eight-division world champion.

“For you to come from the smallest weight class you could imagine and become a champion in eight divisions, that’s an all-time great.” Furthermore, he went on to name the 2nd and 3rd great boxers, and stated, “I would say Floyd Mayweather and then Muhammad Ali.” Garcia is certainly having a phenomenal career that might put him in a position to be considered great. However, in his own opinion, you have to do something outside the sport to be considered in that bracket. And with his antics outside the sport, he already has a polarising image among fans.
