Claressa Shields is arguably the best female boxer of this era, and she recently, voiced out in favor of Angel Reese. She came in support of the team LSU Tigers, as there is an uproar on the internet regarding the on-court healthy trash-talking between Angel Reese and Caitlyn Clark during the LSU Tigers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes. Although there wasn’t anything obscene about it, Reese at first did a ‘You can’t see me’ gesture popularized by WWE Superstar John Cena.

Then she pointed one of her fingers, so to suggest that she’ll be heading back home, wearing the championship ring.  American Blogger Dave Portnoy called Angel Reese a “Classless piece of sh*t”.

In the same vein, American sports commentator Keith Olbermann also showed distress by tweeting, “What a f**king idiot”.

The gesture has left the internet divided. While some sided with the critiques, others voiced out in support of Reese.

Claressa Shields sends out support to Angel Reese

Claressa Shields saw the video clip uploaded by Ryan Clark, who had an interview with the LSU Tigers athlete, Angel Reese. He explained the whole incident that’s going on with Angel Reese and how she’s being attacked for being herself. He believes that Reese is a woman who is trying to present the confident and bold side of her personality in front of the whole world and fans should be inspired by such champions.

Claressa Shields took it to Twitter where she shared her feelings about how she faced similar degradation from the opposite gender. She revealed that she has also been called “classless” before, but she overcame such lows and became the ‘GWOAT’ of boxing.

She stated that this is not something new for Women’s Sports, and she even praised Angel Reese for joining the fight in support of women’s equality. Meanwhile, former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal also expressed his views on this matter and replied separately to Dave Portnoy and Keith Olbermann. On the other hand, Claressa Shields has always been vocal about the struggles women athletes have to face in this industry. Notably, she also once commented on the USA still being a bit receptive toward women’s sports.
