Several NBA stars came out to watch Gervonta Davis take on Isaac Cruz. On Sunday night, ‘Tank’ Davis took on Isaac Cruz at the Staples Center, the home of the Los Angeles Lakers. So who else would come out to watch Davis shine, other than the Los Angeles Lakers squad themselves. Former players and current players came out to support America’s most talked-about boxer.

The lightweight showdown had veteran NBA stars also in attendance. Lakers legend Magic Johnson, Lakers small forward Carmelo Anthony also showed out and could be seen shouting and cheering on Davis. ‘The Klaw‘ Kawhi Leonard was also in attendance. He raised his fingers to the crowd as the camera panned towards him. Dwight Howard joined the Lakers roster present at the fight.

Other NBA stars in attendance included Russell Westbrook and LeBron James. However, fans had their eyes fixed on the iconic duo of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, who met each other before the fight. The iconic Boston Celtics duo embraced and laughed as they spoke to each other. Dwayne Wayde was another familiar face that basketball fans found in attendance at the fight.

 

Davis did not disappoint as he put on a show for everyone in attendance. Although he took time to find his rhythm, from the 4th round onwards, Davis unleashed his entire offensive arsenal, showing off his incredible hand speed and power. Davis proved to be too fast and strong for Cruz to handle as he secured the unanimous decision victory over the Mexican.

Gervonta Davis pays tribute to Kobe Bryant

One of the main reasons why all the NBA stars came to the fight was because ‘Tank’ Davis paid tribute to the late great Kobe Bryant on Sunday night. Davis wore classic Laker colors, golden and purple as he entered the ring. His shorts had the numbers 8 and 24 embroidered on them, the numbers that Kobe Bryant wore.

To top it all off, he also wore Grinch green shoes for the fight, as a symbol of the ‘Mamba’ mentality, associated with Kobe Bryant. This touching tribute sat perfectly with the fans in the house that Bryant made, the Staples Center, where he defied expectations and made the fans go crazy multiple times.
