A fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall is the UFC version of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury. With a rematch between Usyk and Fury on the horizon, combat fans have received another great piece of news from the man at the top of MMA promotion, Dana White. Meanwhile, YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul has voiced his support for Jones, advocating that he be paid $50 million.
You see, fans and experts alike have demanded a skirmish between Jones and Aspinall for quite a while now, and White always seemed confident he could make the fight happen. Now, the 55-year-old has taken things to the next level. Last Saturday night, after the final UFC event of 2025 wrapped up in Tampa, the UFC CEO guaranteed that Jones vs. Aspinall would happen in 2025.
“Yeah, I’ll say 100 percent [guaranteed],” said White about the bout. “100 percent [it’s a priority]. I think it’s probably the biggest fight in heavyweight history, and it’s massive in the history of the company, too. It’s a big fight.” Before Jones defeated Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November in a lopsided match, White expected the winner to square off against Aspinall to unify the titles.

While Jones had downplayed his interest in the fight, instead advocating for a fight against UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, White immediately shot down those plans. He was confident Jones would fight Aspinall, regardless of what he said. Now, it appears White was right all along. That said, Jake Paul, fresh off his lackluster win over Mike Tyson, has now joined the conversation.
The thing is, Jake Paul has always had an issue with the paychecks MMA fighters have received from their fights in the UFC. On multiple occasions, ‘The Problem Child’ has called out the promotion for their stingy payment structure. So, after White’s statement, ‘El Gallo’ hopped on X to share his thoughts on the matter.
Did my math. Understand their hope to have Jon Jones lose so they can create the next man. So…
Bones should be getting a $50M guarantee for that fight. And $10 for every PPV buy above 600K.
If they offer that to Jon, it’s fair. He should take it

“Did my math. Understand their hope to have Jon Jones lose so they can create the next man. So…,” Jake Paul wrote. “‘Bones’ should be getting a $50M guarantee for that fight. And $10 for every PPV buy above 600K. If they offer that to Jon, it’s fair. He should take it.” The purse for both fighters is currently under wraps, but since this is a huge fight, the payday is expected to be significant.
Regardless, it appears Aspinall was already aware that the fight was happening.
Tom Aspinall reveals what Dana White told him about the Jon Jones fight
A couple of days ago, Tom Aspinall revealed that the UFC CEO assured him that his much-anticipated fight with Jon Jones is set to happen. Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Aspinall shared details of a conversation he had with Dana White after his victory over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. “I was waiting outside that room,” he began.
“I hadn’t seen any of this stuff that he’d said. I was expecting him to come and negotiate a little bit, but he literally walked into the room and said, ‘It’s happening,’” Aspinall recalled. White emphasized that the fight would be “the biggest fight in UFC history,” a sentiment Aspinall agreed with.

While Jones has shown little interest in the bout, Aspinall remains focused on unifying the heavyweight titles. “It’s not about Jon, it’s about the belt, and that’s all I care about,” Aspinall said, underscoring his desire to solidify his legacy.
It appears while the world is learning about the nearly done fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall from Dana White, Aspinall knew about it since his last win. Still, even if the fight happens, do you agree with Jake Paul? Do you think Jon Jones deserves a $50 million payday?
