Former Bellator star Dillon Danis and boxing is not a combination people get to see often! The 31-year-old took on WWE star Logan Paul back in October 2023 and produced one of the most disappointing boxing matches the sport has ever seen. ‘El Jefe’ was disqualified from the fight, but he doesn’t seem to have given up on the sport quite yet.
Earlier this year, reports revealed that the MMA fighter would lock horns with YouTube star KSI in a boxing match at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, on 29th March. However, Danis was left at the altar alone, as the Brit cited illness and pulled out of the fight. Danis scrambled to find a last-minute replacement, unwilling to part ways with the money involved.
But it appears no one wants to throw hands with the mixed martial artist in the boxing ring. “Sorry guys, KSI couldn’t recover from the common cold for all of April to reschedule the fight,” he wrote on X yesterday. It’s worth noting that after the news about KSI’s withdrawal, the British influencer was spotted in a club, sending Danis over the edge.

‘El Jefe’ relentlessly trolled KSI for making excuses not to fight him. But the interesting thing is, in January 2023, Danis had pulled out of a fight against KSI, claiming he was underprepared. This puts the fighters 1-1 for withdrawing from a fight against each other. Regardless, his team seems to have reached out to KSI’s brother, Deji, and Mike Perry to replace the British YouTuber.

“Deji and Mike Perry declined the fight to save the show, plus many others. It is what it is, we move on,” Danis lamented. With all his options to make a return to the ring in the gutters, there’s only one place left for Danis to go.

Dillon Danis will fall back on fighting Tony Ferguson
Dillon Danis will fall back on fighting Tony Ferguson now that the fight with KSI is off, as the Global Fight League officially announced the much-discussed matchup for its inaugural season. Set at 165 pounds, the date and location remain undisclosed, but GFL founder Darren Owen hinted at the bout earlier this year, saying, “We can make the fights that people want to see, and we’re listening to everybody, right? Like Tony Ferguson, Dillon Danis — that may be something that will come to fruition.”

41-year-old Ferguson is a former UFC interim lightweight champion who exited the promotion in 2024 after a historic eight-fight losing streak. Despite the slump, his past dominance—including a 12-fight win streak—keeps fans intrigued. Meanwhile, Danis hasn’t fought in MMA since 2019 but is expected to stay busy in 2025. As Owen put it, “We’re going to deliver the real fights that people want.”
