The early 1990s revolutionized MMA as UFC was introduced in 1993. UFC president Dana White had a significant role in altering the MMA industry. However, there is debate about fighters getting lower pay at the UFC. Let’s take a look at what UFC fighter Luke Rockhold has to say about it.

Luke Rockhold appeared on MMAFIghtingonSBN, where he stated, “F*** $50,000 bonuses going on for two decades. Like, what the f*? The valuation of the company’s going up f** billions of dollars and we’re still stuck on $50,000 bonus checks? What the f** is this? People need to wake up.”

Furthermore, he added, “Remember when they were doing $100,000 bonuses when Jake Shields fought Georges St-Pierre? Now we’re still stuck on $50,000 bonuses. I mean, how many billions have we gone up in valuation since that fight — and we’re still tracking backwards and they’re still f**** us on pay?

The former middleweight champion raised the concern that the UFC’s “fight of the night” and “performance of the night” bonuses were not being increased. Even Youtuber turned boxer Jake Paul has some opinions on the subject.

Jake Paul takes a dig at Dana White regarding low fighter pay in the UFC 

UFC president Dana White and Jake Paul have been at crossroads several times in the past. The former had a major part in popularising the MMA industry by introducing the UFC. Paul, however, has certain observations that might not agree with White’s theories.

Recently Dana White appeared in a Q&A session with fans by GQ magazine. When he was asked about lower pay to UFC fighters, White replied, “You always have something to b*tch about, I guess … these guys get paid what they’re supposed to get paid.”

Following this, Jake Paul took a dig at White’s remarks, and wrote on Twitter, “No major sports organization pays its athletes as poorly as Dana White & UFC. If u don’t see that, then you are one of Dana’s sheeps.

They keep talking about selling out 21 events in a row but never talking about raising fighter pay, giving them healthcare & fair revenue split.” He further added.
