After capturing the WBC, WBA, and Ring 168 lbs belts from Callum Smith in December, he defended them against Avni Yildirim in February. The Mexican legend then went after another unbeaten British champion, Billy Joe Saunders.
The big fight saw massive drama in its build-up and Saunders almost walked off from the bout. However, they met inside the ring for the WBC, WBA, WBO, and Ring super middleweight belts. While Saunders showcased sheer commitment, Alvarez landed another KO win, breaking the Brit’s orbital bone with a punch in round 8.
