Two years after that controversial night in Glasgow, Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall would meet again. At the First Direct Arena in Leeds, the two light welterweights will circle back to close the argument, left pending following Taylor’s questionable split decision victory while defending the undisputed title. Much slammed, the match has since entered the pages of notoriety. For, in the eyes of those who saw the fight as well as the experts, Catterall had done enough to score a clear victory. He had knocked down Taylor in the eighth round. But, to all appearances, he completely outboxed the Scotsman. So, “the biggest robbery in British boxing history,” as former cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson reportedly termed the fight, definitely needed closure.
The match has already met with a few cancelations and subsequent postponements. First, it was fixed for February 2023. However, Josh Taylor’s injury resulted in the fight being called off. So April 27 was set as the next date. But like the previous instance, this time too, the fight had to be canceled. The Scottish boxer needed medical intervention for his eyes. Finally, it was decided that they would meet on May 25. Jack Catterall will enter the ring to avenge an unfair loss. It denied him the undisputed title. Let’s check out a few other details of the event unfolding in Leeds.

Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall: Undercard Details
Last year, in June, Josh Taylor decided to defend his WBO and the Ring belts from Teofimo Lopez. Unfortunately, the adventure backfired, as ‘The Takeover’ inflicted the first professional loss on the Commonwealth gold medalist. Jack Catterall, on the other hand, fought Darragh Foley for a regional title in May 2023. Four months later, he secured another victory, defeating Jorge Linares in a non-title fight. Per the available reports, odds favor the Lancastrian slightly over the Scotsman as they enter the fight.
The event will feature a fight for the vacant British cruiserweight title between Cheavon ‘C4’ Clarke (8-0-0) and Ellis Zorro (17-1-0). Montego Bay, Jamaica-born ‘C4 comes off a spectacular victory over Tommy McCarthy on January 27 this year. It fetched him the WBA inter-continental cruiserweight title. On the other hand, London-born Zorro may want to set his record straight following his first career loss to Jai Opetaia last year during the ‘Day of Reckoning’.
