Any credible boxing pound-for-pound rankings would include Errol Spence and Terence Crawford in the top 10. Both these boxers remain undefeated and a class apart from other competitors in their division. After much anticipation, they will square off against one another on July 29 to put doubts to rest and become the undisputed Welterweight champion. The match-up has generated profound excitement and speculation among fans and pundits. Given their styles, the bout is a game of inches and could go either way on any given night.

However, the betting odds have a favorite in their mind. Meanwhile, Spence Jr. remains unbothered about being the underdog and to an extent considers it reasonable.

Errol Spence understands being considered the underdog

Spence Jr. had a rough couple of years off-court. Back in 2019, Spence was in a horrific car accident which left his legs injured. Not to mention, he went under the knife in 2021 for his retina surgery. Despite these battles, Spence has competed several times and has remained undefeated. I mean, everything I been through throughout these two, three years, I mean, I should be the underdog. But, I mean, it is what it is, man. A lotta people are the underdog and they wind up winning. That’s why it’s a bet.”

Evidently, Spence did not let the odds have any effect on his confidence ahead of the fight. Crawford is glad to know that he is the betting odds favorite. When asked about the same, he stated, “They know what’s gonna happen.” It bears a mention that, the odds are merely predictions in this unpredictable sport. Only time can reveal who is the best Welterweight boxer in the world. However, a boxing legend is firm on his prediction ahead of the contest and reasons his stance.

Mike Tyson’s prediction on Errol Spence vs Terence Crawford

The whole boxing world has their eyes and attention on this matchup; including former Heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson. Similar to the betting odds, Tyson favors Crawford to defeat Spence but explains his stance in an Interview with ESNews. Both competitors fought Shawn Porter and while ‘Bud’ was able to win via stoppage, Spence on the other hand, won via a split decision. While referring to the same, Tyson stated, “The reason I say Crawford is because what do you think about the guy they both fought. Look at What he did to the porter and what he did to porter.”
