Borussia Dortmund have already confirmed three signings and are looking to get one more done before the week ends. The transfer window only opened a few days ago and Borussia Mönchengladbach winger Thorgan Hazard and Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt have already joined this season’s Bundesliga runner-ups only a day after Hoffenheim midfielder Nico Schulz was announced.
Dortmund had a brilliant domestic campaign, only losing out on the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich by two points. The 2011-12 Bundesliga champions had a flying start to the season, but could not keep up with the relentless pressure of consistently winning games.
Manager Lucien Favre had bought England youngster Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2017 from Manchester City, who had a brilliant debut season at the Signal Iduna Park. The arrivals of Belgian defensive-midfielder Axel Witsel and centre-back Abdou Diallo last season also rejuvenated Favre’s squad.

The Swiss manager is looking to bolster his side this summer if they are to challenge both in Europe and domestically once again.
Thorgan Hazard has been acquired for a reported €25.5 million, which is no doubt a remarkable piece of business by the Borussia Dortmund bosses. The 26-year old scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in a stellar league season for Mönchengladbach, and is set to match the levels of his brother and Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard.
Thorgan Hazard is a direct replacement for Christian Pulisic, who signed a contract with Chelsea in January and has departed for London. The Belgian’s arrival was officially announced a day after Hoffenheim midfielder/left-back Nico Schulz was bought for approximately €27 million. The German international scored the winner in the Euro qualifier against the Netherlands in March.
Schulz is a versatile player, who can slot in at left-back, at left wing-back and also in midfield, making him an ideal fit inside Favre’s fluid, attacking system.
Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder/winger Julian Brandt had also been heavily linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, and it looks like the German club have got their man. The €25 million-rated German midfielder, along with Nico Schulz and Thorgan Hazard make it a couple of days to remember for the Black and Yellows.
Brandt, 23, already has 24 appearances for the German national team. Coincidentally, both Schulz and Brandt scored in Germany’s 2-1 friendly win over Peru back in September.
To clarify this is a real-life signing, not a FIFA Pro Clubs transfer 😂 https://t.co/NmLu5hYSZX

La Masia wonderkid Mateu Morey is also on Borussia Dortmund’s radar. The 19-year old right-back has come through the ranks of Barcelona’s famous youth academy and could prove to be an injection of youth on Dortmund’s right flank. With Lukasz Piszczek now 33, Morey could be a significant asset for years to come.
Borussia Dortmund have not shied away from putting out a brave statement to the Bundesliga as they look forward to a massive transfer window.
