Roger Federer and women’s world No 1 Simona Halep are among the first players to be confirmed for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships later this month.

Federer has won a record seven ATP Dubai titles, will be part of the men’s field that also includes 2017 champion Andy Murray as well as 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic. However, with Murray’s impending retirement, his participation in the tournament seems doubtful.

Federer missed last year’s tournament, the first time he had not competed since 2010, but the world No 3 will be back at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium aiming to be victorious for the first time since 2015.
