Chris Bumstead and Courtney King became parents on 22nd April 2024. The pair welcomed their first child, Bradley Shay Bumstead, into the world, and a month after giving birth, King is finally back in the gym. The former Bikini Ms. Olympia champion is still in her postpartum period but ready to actively recover.
Courtney King’s first gym session came after months of no activity. Although she continued to train months into her pregnancy, she had to stop after a point. CBum’s fiancée also crossed her expected delivery date, prolonging her pregnancy. “First time getting in any real deal movement…” wrote the 30-year-old.
“I’ve went on three 10 min short walks with my dog,” added the former bodybuilding champion. “This is my first time on the treadmill. I am not looking to “lose weight” or “snap back” whatsoever… This movement is more for mental sanity,” King explained in her Instagram story.

Courtney King informed her fans that she wanted to give her body time to heal. However, the new parent also revealed it’s been almost five weeks since she left the house. So, walking on the treadmill in her garage felt like a treat. “What I really can’t wait for is to lift some WEIGHTS!!!!” said the fiancée of 5x Classic Physique champ Chris Bumstead.
Courtney King also recalled how she was “getting stronger,” in May last year before she got pregnant. The former bodybuilding champion is excited to start again. She feels that since she hasn’t trained in the gym for so long, this time it’s going to feel even more enjoyable.
Earlier, it was a complication with Baby Bumstead also kept King away from exercise.

“My sweet baby had a lip & tongue tie procedure done,” King wrote in an Instagram story. While the procedure was painful for the newborn, her mother explained that doctors assured her it would improve Baby Bumstead’s long-term health. Courtney King later gave an update, saying her newborn was doing better and that Chris Bumstead was there to support his fiancée and child throughout the ordeal.
Five weeks into her postpartum phase, Courtney King has finally started working out again. However, she is in no rush to start lifting weights and, for now, wants to use exercise as a tool for faster recovery.
