Going to the gym, working out, clicking pictures, and making videos can look usual to many. But that practice can also bring difficulties for other gym goers. Joey Swoll, famous for his constant efforts to make gym culture better, never shies away from calling out the bullies. Recently, the fitness influencer talked about how people need to stop filming in the gym if they fail to respect people.
Just a few hours ago, the 40-year-old fitness fanatic posted a clip featuring a man refusing from letting others use an equipment while he was filming. Swoll dissed this practice and requested the community to maintain a healthy gym culture.

Swoll uploaded the clip with the caption, “You 100% can’t do this at the gym or treat people this way. You don’t own it!”. In the video, a man was seen filming himself while working out when another person asked him whether he could use the squat rack. The former candidly stated he was using it, while clearly, he was not. The man further asked, “You guys squatting?”, which he then clarified and said to his partner, “If I tell you I’m using it, I’m using it.”

The nonchalant gesture of the man went viral and reached Joey Swoll who came forward to discuss it. “You’re 10,000% wrong in this video,” said Swoll pointing out, “He sets up his tripod to film himself next to a squat rack, while he is on the gluped machine. To act as if he was using it so we can hog it and try to reserve it to use it next. You can’t do that in the gym.”
Joey Swoll further noted that even after acknowledging that people would be mad at him not to let them use the machine, he didn’t change his decision. He firmly stated, “I’m sorry, but if you can’t respect people in the shared space, you don’t belong there.” Thus, the fitness enthusiast advised not to use a tripod in the gym when people can’t respect someone else’s face. Although the event doesn’t end here, there’s more to it.

Later Swoll took to his comment section to reveal the fact that, “The young man apologized, was accountable, and explained this video was a year ago and he was showing how’s he’s grown as a creator and person since then…”. He also detailed that the man was posting this after a year to try and go viral and get on Swoll’s page. The fitness freak appreciated his gesture of learning from his mistakes and changing himself.
