Though Arnold Schwarzenegger was often given unsolicited advice about his acting career, he never really listened to the naysayers. Despite not fitting in the regular persona of a lead role, be it because of his accent or build, in Hollywood, Arnie always believed he could be the superstar of his age. He proved himself right with blockbuster hits like the ‘Predator’ and ‘Terminator’ series with time.
The Austrian Oak recalled an incident from the ‘Terminator 2’ days during the launch of his book ‘Arnold’ published by Taschen. He mentioned that James Cameron had to stop the ‘Twins’ icon on the sets of the film ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ to regulate the latter’s violent thoughts.

The ‘Governator’ graced the book launch event to reveal snippets from his illustrious life. While speaking about the great director James Cameron, the action hero said, “Jim Cameron is a genius writer.” The ‘Pumping Iron’ star confessed his thoughts when Cameron revealed that he wants to transform Arnie’s character into a good Terminator. “He’s a great writer, he wrote the first one and did a fantastic job, and he came up with this brilliant idea even though at the beginning I was suspicious, ” the actor confessed.
“I was killing 68 people in the first one. The second one, I have to kill 150. We go up with the count and cut their throats and kill them and run them over with the car,” retorted Schwarzenegger, unable to digest the change of the script. So, Cameron remarked in response, “Arnold, stop it. You’re a very sick guy.”
Eventually, the ace director ensured that Arnie’s character didn’t kill anyone in the second installation of the Terminator series. James Cameron’s idea worked, and the film was a huge success. So, such is the Governator zeal to overdo action stuff. However, being labeled an action hero in the 1980s, the 75-year-old wanted to change the tide and opted for his first comedy movie role in 1988.
The Austrian Oak’s Twins movie production was a risky affair
After Ivan Reitman came up with the plot of Twins, the director realized that no one is interested in funding the film. So, the crew, which includes Arnold Schwarzenegger as a lead, decided to renounce their paychecks for the film.
“Danny DeVito decided, Ivan Reitman decided not to take a salary and I decided not to take one,” Schwarzenegger once revealed. The movie became one of the highest-grossing films in Arnie’s career.
