The 4x Mr. Olympia champion recently appeared for a podcast on the ‘Don’t Be Sour’ channel. In the podcast, Cutler revealed that when he was diving into the sports of bodybuilding, a lot of people told him he won’t make much money out of it. Fortunately, the star bodybuilder was already financially successful before he entered the world of bodybuilding; thanks to his family business.

He candidly shared that his financial success prior to bodybuilding was due to his involvement in his family’s business. In the late 1980s, he was making a significant income of $500 a week. “I was making money at 11-12 years old, I was in high school driving nice cars and you know I was making 500 bucks a week back in you know the late 80s.”

Cutler’s journey of making his own brand

Despite coming from a successful financial family, Cutler had to work hard to make his own brand successful. In an interview last year, the 59-year-old bodybuilding expert recalled his journey from being an entrepreneur to a successful businessman. Cutler said, “I started a mail order, and it’s kind of comical; I would sell one picture of myself and one t-shirt. And people would send me money orders and checks and I started kind of my business at that point. Every week I was getting individual money from basically a nobody.”

He made millions from selling t-shirts because no one was doing the same at that time. He thought ahead and even planned for his future.
