Robert Downey Junior is an actor who is well-known for his nuanced performances and charming character. The witty actor became a household name through the portrayal of Tony Stark in the “Iron Man” series. Furthermore, he exponentially rose to fame by reprising the role of Iron Man in “The Avengers” (2012) and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015). RJD played a significant part in popularizing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with each movie being a box office hit. However, despite all the success, one does not associate muscularity or a Hulk-like figure with the Sherlock Holmes actor. So when the Avengers ensemble saw a photograph of the biceps, they could not identify who it belonged to.

Earlier, a YouTube channel posted a throwback video of a promotional event for the movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The star cast was presented with pictures of each other’s arms. They had to name the person with the biceps. None of them could identify the biceps of RDJ. The responses drew comments from fans who came to the defense of Tony Stark. Followers were surprised that the young actors did not take Tony Stark’s name.

The Avengers ensemble could not believe the ripped arms of Robert Downey Junior

Recently, Luke Sherran posted a throwback clip of the promotional event for the film. The star seemed to share the great camaraderie that developed during the shoot. However, they were startled when the host informed them that it was RDJ’s jacked arms. A shocked Chris Hemsworth said, “Since when?” as he believed that only the mighty Thor would have such physicality. Chris Evans remarked, “That’s me right, just when I wake up.” Scarlett Johansson agreed and said, “That looks like Evans.” Only Cobie Smulders of “How I Met Your Mother” fame could identify Robert Downey Junior.

The YouTube video explained that it was indeed Iron Man and further gave the context. The animated voice in the clip said, “The picture of his arm is taken from his scene in Iron Man 2, where Tony is creating a new car for his reactor. Although Robert is very lean and slender, he does look really big at one particular angle, which is why the photo is so surprising.”

Well, bodybuilding giant or not, RDJ is an iconic actor who made the MCU universe a money-churning, entertaining part of popular culture. He also has a black belt in martial arts. Furthermore, netizens could not bear to see their beloved superhero not getting due credit.

Fans love the lean look of Tony Stark

The video clip evoked strong reactions from subscribers. One user said, “I love this! The other younger guys are so jealous.” During the release, Robert Downey Junior was in his forties, while Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth were in their early and mid-thirties. Another fan chimed, “Rdj is lean, but that was all about the angles! It’s actually his tricep that makes the arm look bigger.”
