Gold’s Gym, Venice is a heaven for professional bodybuilders. Known as the ‘Mecca of bodybuilding,’ many bodybuilding legends have trained at this gym and made it to the pinnacle of the sport. Among many other names who trained here were the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu, Dave Draper, etc. Even today, the gym is frequented by many big names from the fitness industry as well as the entertainment sector.

Crossing paths with internet personalities while walking in the Gold’s Gym is no shocking event. Recently, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joseph Baena, worked out with fitness sensation Mike O’Hearn. The duo trained arms together and made several videos and took pictures from the session. Training for more than three decades now, O’Hearn definitely has a few tricks up his sleeves that help him maintain such a physique at this age. He opened up about a few while training with Baena.

Before starting the workout, Baena inquired if the ‘Titan’ wants to train in the form of supersets, or train biceps and triceps alternatively with adequate rest in between. O’Hearn chose the second option, as he does not like fatiguing. “I like fatiguing…I think I have a lot of endurance and I recover pretty quickly during like between sets,” revealed Baena.

Being at a younger age, Baena likes to push his limits and train as if he is the hardest worker in the room. Understanding his point, Mike revealed that he has been at this point too once, but he further explained the downside of this.

Mike started by pointing out, “We can play back last time what happened when he said this. Twenty minutes later, you were completely destroyed by going slower.” Continuing further, O’Hearn explained that the mental approach is a lot more important in the realm of fitness and bodybuilding. He explained that instead of training only your body, one shall focus on training his mind as well, and focus on mental growth.

“If I let you come here, you’re going to destroy everybody, out-train everybody, 4-hour workout…I’m gonna try to show that this is just a stimulant. The growing and everything else is later,” explained O’Hearn. Baena understood the point and agreed that he needed to “reel it back in” and go slow and steady.

The duo continued the video by training a bit slower than usual, and in a much more focused way. By emphasizing the art of reeling it back and avoiding excess fatigue, Baena made sure he got the most out of the workout session, without keeping his body in a difficult position.
