Jewett posted a video on Instagram in which he delved into low-volume HIIT exercise during the offseason and why it was important. The main reason for doing this was work capacity. This particular low-volume exercise is done for less than 15 minutes, and is training specific to one’s resistance, Jewett said. He also wrote in the caption, “As you get bigger, you may be getting more unfit, which can start limiting work capacity and also worsening health markers.”

He also added that, “HIIT cardio has a benefit as we can mimic the work periods like for hypertrophy training and get the positive health outcomes like for steady state cardio.” He had earlier spoken about the nutrition one needs during the off-season.

In the post, he spoke about training and taking breaks after the exercise. He said, “On prep, we are looking to manage hunger and uphold fiber intake but as you transition into off-season hunger is lessening, and food volume is rising.” According to him, adding white rice to oatmeal can do wonders for the body.
