Newly crowned Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford has documented his journey on social media. From becoming runner-up last year to winning the Snadow trophy this year. The bodybuilding icon has showcased his hard work in the gym through pictures and videos. Besides giving it all inside the gym, the 2023 Mr. Olympia winner also attributes his success to his faith in god and the support of his wife.

A few months before the Olympia, Lunsford also announced to hand that his wife Jhelsin Mabaga was pregnant. Hence. The 212 Mr. Olympia’s stakes for winning this year’s Olympia were even higher. The first thing Lunsford did after winning was to call his wife on stage and thank her for her support. Now, the soon-to-be father has penned a heartfelt note to his pregnant wife.

“WE DID IT @jhelbell,” wrote the first two-division champion while uploading a series of behind-the-scenes images from the Olympia weekend. The first image Lunsford posted the picture taken right after he called his wife to the Olympia stage. “How many years now, you’ve stood beside me and gave me all the support in the world I need to go and be my best,” said the bodybuilder.

The newly crowned champion couldn’t appreciate his wife enough. “You’ve been part of this for so long and have had to endure many days and nights that were uncomfortable that led to this moment,” wrote the double champ. Lunsford thanked his wife for standing beside him even when he felt helpless and hopeless. He thanked her for giving him the strength to not quit.

“When most people would cave, you always believed in me and you never doubted that I would give absolutely everything each and every day. God truly blessed me with you,” wrote the two-division champ. Besides thanking Mrs. Lunsford for her undying support, the soon-to-be father said she would be the center of his attention now that the Olympia is behind them. He also had some news for the fans.

The couple is ready to welcome a third family member

Now that Derek Lunsford has achieved his goal with his wife’s support, he is ready to be there for her journey to becoming a mother. “Our baby girl Evelyn ‘Evie’ will be here in just a few short weeks… “ wrote the workout. While Lunsford didn’t reveal if they named their daughter after the biblical Eve, it might be the case as the Lunsfords are devout Christians.

“You deserve all of my attention and you will get it,” stated the 2023 Mr. Olympia champion. In the end, the 29-year-old champion bodybuilder also thanked god for his future. While Lunsford dedicated himself to becoming Mr. Olympia, it seems now he is ready to dedicate himself to being a father as well as a champion.
