Mr. Olympia is the most prestigious stage for bodybuilders. Its popularity and tough levels always have baffled people in the past, and it continues in the future as well. Although everyone has the same goal of achieving their title, only a few can manage to bring it into their reality. Derek Lunsford won the 2021 212lbs Mr. Olympia.

However, with the turn of events in 2022, he lost his crown. After tasting the sorrow of defeat, Lunsford is all set to retrieve his old title on the most rigid platform.

Lunsford recently posted a video on his YouTube Channel announcing that it’s nine weeks out already. The preparation for 2023 Mr. Olympia is ever so hectic for each participant, but their training approach would ultimately decide their fate. In the video, Derek depicts a snippet of his Heavy-duty back routine. He explained how he had previously done a similar routine where he increased weight with each rep. He says, “I did a few reps of rack pulls as a superset. So now I’m warmed up, and ready to go. I can lift even more weight doing rack pulls than I can row or to put more weight in our hand.”

He further mentions in the video that he desires to do a chest-supported movement, which can be either a reverse grip low row or even a neutral grip straight row. However, to him, chest support will be extremely beneficial for pulling all the isolation in the back muscles.

When fans perceived the heavily intense workout session, hundreds of them flooded the comments. They cheered and encouraged the bodybuilding beast and shared their opinions about him.

One of the fans says, “Man in all seriousness brother, you are approaching Coleman, Yates type of back development. I can’t wait to see the finished product in 9 weeks! Godspeed 👊🏽”. While another fan points out, “The future Olympia winner”. However, most of the fans agree with his expertise. One of them compliments his work ethic by saying, “As always, your work ethic is unbelievable. What a back! Whoa”. Yet another fan remarks, “The amount of work that has gone into this is a pure masterpiece”. Last, but not least, one other fan declares, “Your drive, dedication, and focus are infectious! 🙏”.

The Giant Killer, Shaun Clarida, had previously snatched away Derek’s Mr. Olympia crown in 2022. However, instead of getting discouraged, Derek fumed about getting his prestigious title back. In a previous post on his Instagram, he revealed his wishes to kill the prep and thus can be traced in his visible transformations.
