Flex Wheeler, a.k.a. the Sultan of Symmetry, elucidates the connotation of pain as power. Wheeler has made a memoir by winning the Arnold Classic four times in a row. Moreover, on similar lines, Ronnie Coleman, the winner of eight Mr. Olympia titles, once said Wheeler was one of the best bodybuilders he had competed against. Commencing his career as a bodybuilder with an incredibly built physique and the most aesthetically fit bodies, life hasn’t been a gladdening trial for him.

Indeed, Flex has encountered scores of unseen circumstances in his life to date. The foremost stumbling block to his success was his childhood kidney problem, due to which he had to make the tough call to undergo leg amputation.

In an exchange of koreros with Bloomble Inc., the most symmetrical bodied man says, “I come from a martial arts background, so self-discipline, self-control, and to everything I’ve done so because of my lifestyle as a martial artist it helped me to be an individual and a sport of bodybuilding to set discipline.” He proceeds and converses, saying that self-discipline and consistency are two of the most colossal gifts of life. Being a former martial arts and karate champion, he suggests to his fellow bodybuilders and fans that “breathing is massive.”

The Sultan of Symmetry elaborates that when he comes up against pain and anxiety, he prefers to look for something bigger than himself and acknowledge that “pain is just a feeling and nothing else.” Though the Flex Wheeler has endured 40 surgeries to date, it’s quite desolating for him to undergo such levels of pain. Nevertheless, he is upbeat and buoyant to the extent that while talking about his treatment going forward, he says, “It’s overwhelming to have this stiff equipment used on me, and gives me a feeling of maybe, maybe there is hope out there for you. Maybe one of these works.”

The 4-time Arnold Classic winner has a building philosophy, and even when he is an amputee, he still believes that “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” He further adds, “There are times when things can be very bleak and dark.”

Flex Wheeler has transformed his pain into his strength, and the power with which he mucks in the bodybuilding fraternity and with his fans across the world is surreal. While conversing, he said, “My frustration is not from anyone else, but I am incredibly hard on myself.”
