Katherine Schwarzenegger shared a heartwarming note for her mother and father duo on Instagram. She celebrated the 20th anniversary of Schwarzenegger’s appointment as the governor of California for the first time.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reigned the bodybuilding arena in the 1970s, securing seven Mr. Olympia titles, the first to do so in the sport’s history. After reaching the heights as an athlete, the Austrian Oak transitioned to movies and proved his mettle by recording blockbuster hits as an action hero. In 2003, Arnie ventured into politics to serve the people of California.

The FUBAR actor won the recall election and became the Governor of California. He served with integrity during his tenure, bringing various reforms in financial and environmental arenas. “I can’t believe 20 years ago today, my father @schwarzenegger became governor of California and my mom, @mariashriver, First Lady of California,” wrote Katherine Schwarzenegger in her Instagram post celebrating her father’s first-ever political victory. 

The 33-year-old credited her mom, Maria Shriver for supporting Arnie in his influential role and wrote, “With my mama by his side, they were a dynamic duo for the state and both complimented each other as partners in serving CA.

I’m so proud of what they accomplished during my dad’s term as governor and always proud of the work they both continue to do,” the author added in her post while sharing throwback pictures of the family during Arnie’s tenure as Governor. Earlier, the Governator spilled beans on Maria Shriver’s role in his political venture.

The 67-year-old journalist belongs to the politically influential Kennedy family. However, she wasn’t initially inclined towards her ex-husband Schwarzenegger running for the Governor’s role in 2003. But after much thought, she decided to support her husband in his political dream. Schwarzenegger once revealed how Shriver consented to his political stint.

The morning of the Tonight Show, Maria actually put a note under my bathroom door that said, ‘In case you decide to run here’s what I would say,” Arnie confessed in his Netflix documentary. “Maria for the first time, is open to the idea. That feels great!” he added, stressing how Shriver’s acceptance matters to him. However, the dynamic couple sadly separated in 2011.
