In a thought-provoking Instagram post, the 80-year-old highlighted the commonness of powerless speech. First, the former Olympia champ mentioned that negative body metaphors show the most noticeable types of such speech. Then, he went deeper, proposing that people often choose to express themselves through their bodies instead of communicating their true intentions with words.

“Negative body metaphor are the most obvious forms of powerless speech. But instead of saying what you really mean, you may be into the habit of bringing your body into the expression.”

At 41 years old, a bicycle accident and shoulder issue led the ex-IFBB pro to step back from competitive bodybuilding.
