Former IFBB icon, Flex Wheeler had persistently voiced his stance against using only heavyweight training for bodybuilding. In 2016, a fellow competitor, Lee Priest,?recalled the champ?s training approach, which was unique to most athletes. Unlike the norm, he bypassed lifting heavy weights and instead went for lighter ones. Implying the same, once again, Wheeler took to his Instagram recently to reshare a post by a Cross Fit athlete, Chelsea Nicolas.?

Besides the acknowledgment, he also chipped in his personal opinion on the matter, claiming that the training program does the unexpected.

According to the Instagram story, the 57-year-old pro seized the opportunity to emphasize his viewpoint on using unconventional approaches for training and building a shredded form. He shared Nicholas?s post, who is a dedicated CrossFit Advantage trainee, and highlighted its great benefits, which are usually achieved through intense workouts.

?The one thing CrossFit has shown is you can build a great physique without having to exclusively train under bodybuilding protocols,??the four-time Arnold Classic winner?stated in the story. A subsequent update also displayed a mention of Olympic weightlifting. He asserted that the same method could be applied to the sport since it requires lifting heavy.??Expand your playbook,??he wrote.?

Wheeler wasn?t able to put a?Mr. Olympia title to his name, but regardless, he is hailed as one of the greatest competitors in the field by many bodybuilding legends. His iconic Arnold Classic wins are a testament to his highly aesthetic and conditioned frame. Thus, deriving the nickname, ‘The Sultan of Symmetry’. Yet, he achieved all this by going against the flow and strictly following his desired training regime, which did not prioritize lifting heavy.?
