Dorian Yates had an incredible journey, from incarceration to winning the Mr. Olympia six times. The English champion gathered a wealth of experience throughout his storied bodybuilding career and often shares lesser-known facts about himself on social media. The original mass monster shared a throwback post-workout image in his latest post. Yates said he took the snap a few weeks out from one of his Mr. Olympia contests.
Yates also mentioned the man who took the snap was responsible for treating any major or minor injury he suffered while working out. In fact, Yates suffered a lot of severe injuries during his career, some of which were nearly career-ending. Dorian Yates said the man behind the camera was one of his inner circle and among the best in his field.

The six-time Mr. Olympia revealed that his “physio Stuart Cosgrove,” took the picture to track Yates’s progress in the final weeks leading up to the contest. ‘The Shadow’ said Cosgrove was an integral part of his team and helped him overcome some severe injuries throughout his career. “Stuart was in my close circle,” said Yates.
Dorian Yates suffered a massive bicep injury before the 1994 Olympia. Yates was preparing to defend his Olympia crown for the third time when he tore the bicep. In a recent interview, Yates revealed he felt devastated, thinking it would be “career-ending.” However, with the help of his team and determination, Yates competed and won his third title.

The 61-year-old said he would also “often speak to him about any niggling injuries that would occur,” while working out. Despite bodybuilding not being popular in the U.K. The Shadow didn’t have to look far “to seek out the best,” in Stuart Cosgrove. While posting his post-workout picture, the six-time champion spoke about how he worked out.

The bodybuilding pioneer’s routine at Temple Gym
Dorian Yates said he shifted the timings when he took over Temple Gym. “I made the opening time 12pm to the public. Myself and my partners would train in the morning,” said Yates. Since Dorian Yates followed his mentor Mike Mentzer‘s High-Intensity Training (HIT) philosophy, invented by Arthur Jones, his gym session didn’t last long.

The former Mr. Olymia started working out at 10:30 am and “finished within an hour.” This gave him and his team enough time to rerack the weights for those who would arrive later. Yates also revealed that after each workout, he and his inner circle would sit down to plan future training sessions and chat about the sport.
