The 74-year-old WWE veteran recently appeared for an interview with Men’s Health YouTube channel And shed some light on his current fitness routine.
Ric Flair got a wake-up call in 2017

Flair revealed that it was only after a near-death experience in 2017 that when he decided to make a dramatic change in his lifestyle and adopted a strict and healthy diet regimen. He said that in 2017, while on a trip to Texas, he was drinking before blacking out. The next thing Flair remembered was waking up 32 days later in a hospital bed. The Nature boy revealed that he had a ruptured intestine that had led to a severe infection.
He spent 11 days in a coma, fighting for his life. Flair recounted undergoing multiple surgeries to treat his condition and during his harrowing ordeal. This came as a wake-up call for him to confront his unhealthy lifestyle choices.
The former WWE champion Revealed that he is now much more watchful about his diet. One of the major adjustments Flair made to his diet was avoiding spicy food. “As a result of my surgeries, I am very watchful of what I eat. Spicy food will kill me”, he added. This change was necessitated by the delicate state of his digestive system following the surgeries. However, his diet looked much different when he was competing.
Flair’s insane diet during his career
During his heydays, Flair used to consume a massive amount of carbohydrates to fuel his intense workouts and bodybuilding regime. His diet was structured around the principle of consuming an equal number of grams of protein as his body weight.

Flair’s daily diet consisted of colossal portions of protein-rich foods. One of his go-to meals was 20 chicken breasts per day. Additionally, he consumed around 2 dozen eggs, blended together to fulfill his protein intake. Overall, Flair’s approach is a testament to the fact that one should bring changes in the plans according to the situation.
