On Tuesday, 11th June, Dwayne Johnson revealed that he suffered a painful elbow injury while filming The Smashing Machine. The Rock posted an update on the injury earlier on Instagram. On Tuesday, the 52-year-old actor showed how swollen his arm became in the elbow region. However, in the latest update, the swelling has reduced although it’s been replaced with purple bruising.

The People’s Champion looked quite upbeat despite revealing that the injury was painful in the original announcement. He hasn’t lost his optimism in the latest update either. Dwayne Johnson smiled at the camera as he held his arm up to show the bruising. “Elbow got kissed by the boo-boo monster,” wrote the bodybuilding enthusiast, but followed it up with some good news.

While the elbow injury looked quite extreme, Dwayne Johnson revealed that it was not as serious as it looked. “No extensive tissue damage,” said the 52-year-old action star. The inflammation came from a “ruptured bursa sac that will eventually heal,” said The Rock. “I’ve had much worse, and as always let pain – and tequila – be the guide,” added Johnson.

Entertainment website, Deadline, had reached out to A24 to learn if Johnson’s injury would impact The Smashing Machine’s production schedule. Dwayne Johnson answered the question in his latest update. “Back to work. Thank you all for the love and healing/medicine recommendations. I’m good,” wrote the WWE icon. Johnson has been training in mixed martial arts for his upcoming film.

The former professional wrestler will portray UFC Heavyweight champion Mark Kern in the A24 film. Hence, Dwayne Johnson is training to perfect his striking and ground game despite wrestling for years. Now. he doesn’t seem ready to let the injury slow him down, as he sees injuries as an occupational hazard at this point.

On Tuesday, while addressing his social media followers, The Rock recounted every major injury he has suffered during his pro wrestling career. “I tore my quad… Tore my abductor off my pelvis, tore my entire abdominal wall, I’ve had four knee surgeries, tore my Achilles, ruptures in my back, (and) completely reconstructed shoulder,” recounted Dwayne Johnson.

While The People’s Champion has suffered far more serious injuries, he sought treatment for the elbow injury. The Black Adam star even asked his fans about their knowledge of the injury. Thankfully, The Rock didn’t need any surgeries to alleviate the pain. It seems like the 52-year-old Hollywood action star will continue to train and film The Smashing Machine without stressing his elbows.
