WWE legend Terry Gene Bollea, popularly known by his ring name, Hulk Hogan, reigned the spheres of wrestling in the 1980s. He conquered all the levels of the sport and retired as an icon in the industry, with his work cherished to date. Therefore, Men’s Health took the opportunity to feature Hogan in an interview, discussing his illustrious career, diet, and much more.

Particularly focusing on diet regime, he was asked if athletes in the past emphasized much on protein as much as they do now. This struck up an interesting statement from the former athlete while also revealing his protein-laden meals in the past.

As per the interview, the 69-year-old star explained that in the past, people were mostly concerned about money, miles, and beers. Those were the “hardcore wrestling days,” the former wrestler relates to. Whereas speaking for himself, Hogan shared his shocking diet of proteins. “I would start out, and I would eat 12 fried eggs in the morning, two hamburger patties, oatmeal, and everything would have butter on it,” he said. 

Responding to the question about the popularity of proteins in the past, Hogan remarked, “No. back in the hardcore wrestling days, people talked about the money and the miles and who could drink the most beer.” Hogan reasoned his outrageous protein consumption as fuel to his fast-burning engine at that time.

“I was wrestling like 400 times a year, driving, flying, minimal sleep three, four hours a night,” the American pro added. Moreover, he continued with his diet because he faced little competition from his co-athletes. Hence, his diet revolved around proteins majorly. Besides, the former athlete mindfully noted that he had little prior knowledge about the quality and quantity of food. “I was just hungry all the time,” Hogan admitted. On a similar note, the athlete’s pre and post-match meals were called out recently, leaving him dumbfounded.

The recent interview also discussed the 6’7 athlete’s pre and post-game meals. This led to a mind-blowing revelation by the athlete. “The pre-match meal was, probably, three Miller Lites and two Tylenols. That was the pre-match meal. And then afterwards, the post-match meal was probably 12 Miller Lites; so that’s how it was,” he disclosed. 

Hogan claimed that he drank three beers and had two painkillers before the match, whereas post-match, it was simply 12 glasses of beer. Stunned by the disclosure, the host remarked that his meals did not sound healthy, which urged Hogan to contemplate his past diet for a while.
