The former strongman champion, Evan “T-Rex” Singleton, opened up about the near-death experience which ended his wrestling career in just a few seconds.

A Choke Slam that created trouble for Evan Singleton

In a revealing podcast interview with fellow athlete Flex Lewis, Singleton shared the harrowing details of the unfortunate moment that forever altered the trajectory of his life. During his time in the wrestling ring, Singleton experienced an unfortunate incident that turned out ugly. The former strongman revealed that it was a chokeslam that had gone wrong.

He landed up on the back of his head with a furious speed. The high intensity of the impact led to many serious internal injuries. “I was bleeding inside of my skull”, he said. Singleton recalled he had no memory of the next two months following the incident. He revealed that those moments had been completely blacked out from his consciousness.

After getting his medical tests done, the surgeons informed him that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage. They told him that the excessive pressure from the impact had caused significant bleeding inside his skull. It meant the end of his career in the WWE, as he had no choice but to step away from the sport he loved. However, it did not stop him to work hard and push his limits.

Evan “T-Rex” Singleton’s Journey to Glory

The 30-year-old refused to give up and switched sports and eventually came into the field of powerlifting and strongman championships. In 2020, he made his competitive debut at the prestigious World’s Strongest Man competition. However, it was in 2021 that truly changed the fortune of the professional strongman. He showcased his immense strength and unwavering commitment to the sport.

He emerged victorious in the Giants Live World Open and the Arnold UK shows. Even after going through a near-death experience, he ended up deadlifting an insane 1000 pounds in a competition. His journey is a testament that nothing can stop one from achieving their goal if they are dedicated enough.
