418 lbs Scottsman, Tom Stoltman, earned his third World’s Strongest Man title after defeating defending champion Mitchell Hooper. Hooper was the one who prevented Stoltman from completing his WSM hat trick in 2023. However, the strongman beast avenged his loss at the premier strongman competition, cementing himself as one of the greats.
“To get tree-times World’s Strongest man would mean everything,“ Stoltman said in the video by WSM 2024 sponsors SBD. “I worked hard this year… I trained hard for this, and sacrificed a lot,“ added the WSM champion. While the strongman gave the interview before the finals, his hard work paid off during the main event against Mitchell Hooper and Evan Singleton.
Mitchell Hooper exploded onto competitive strongman, winning the World’s Strongest Man 2023, Arnold Strongman Classic 2023 and 2024. The Canadian strength athlete competed with a lot of hype and expectation, hoping to secure his second WSM title. Meanwhile, the Scottish strongman was one step behind Hooper mere months ago at the Arnold Strongman Classic.

However, this time, Stoltman halted Hooper’s momentum. The 418 lbs strongman had a three-point lead on Mitchell Hooper going into the finals. He finished the competition with a strong showing, placing third on Conan’s Wheel of Pain, second on the Terrain Deadlift, and winning the Atlas Stones. The 29-year-old bested Cooper in the latter two events, finishing with 53 points against the Canadians’s 47.5.
While it might be too early to proclaim it a rivalry, these two-strength athletes have gone head-to-head quite a few times since 2023. Stoltman’s Scottish and global fans congratulated the champion on his milestone victory.
Tom Stoltman fans were proud of his achievement

Others commended his hard work. “Congratulations Tom. You worked hard for it, you deserve it,“ wrote a fan. However, Mitchell Cooper’s fans weren’t absent from the thread. “Heal up quick Mitch, and regain your throne,“ commented a fan of the former champion. However, Mitchell Hooper will have to wait until next year for a chance to reclaim the WSM title.
Tom Stoltman etched his name in the history books with a third victory. At 20 years old, the strongman icon seems to have a record-breaking career ahead of him.
