Mike Mentzer is a genius bodybuilder. He is also a?bodybuilding champion with unique exercise ideas and advice. Jeff Cavaliere is a Strength Coach and Athlean-X founder, and his start was as a fitness therapist. Later on became the strength/conditioning coach for the New York Mets for the team’s 2006.?

He regularly posts fitness and exercise videos on Instagram, and in a recent video, he showcased his inspiration from Mentzer. While teaching an arm exercise, the fitness coach gave advice from the 1978 Mr. Universe winner. Bodybuilders still use the exercise recommended by the IFBB pro for better arm muscles.

Mike Mentzer’s advice on a specific exercise

Jeff started the reel video by doing an exercise effective for the arms. While he was doing the exercise, there was a voiceover of Mentzer in the background talking about the benefits of that exercise. Mentzer said, ?You have the dips as the upper body squat.?

The legend who accused Arnold Schwarzenegger of favoritism said that dips are the way to go. He said, ?Dips are by far without a doubt, unparalleled. They are the best exercise for pecs delts and triceps.? He also gave examples of other athletes and explained, ?There were three American gymnasts who worked with parallel bars.?

Even when they did not lift weights, their shoulders and pecs were as muscular and jacked as a pro bodybuilder. So, according to both Jeff and Mike, dips are the only best formula to gain chiseled arms. Mike has also advocated for brief and frequent workouts for the best results.

Mike Mentzer has an unconventional philosophy

While many bodybuilders of the golden era prefer to have lengthy and intense exercise sessions, Mentzer swam against the current and advocated?for short workouts. He believed that the quality of training was more important than the quantity of training to build muscles for a bodybuilder.

The legendary champion popularized high-intensity training, or HIT. This involves pushing muscles to the point of momentary failure in very few sets. By performing fewer sets but in an intense manner, the muscles for stimulated properly without giving the body excessive strain.
