Jay Cutler made history by winning many Mr. Olympia titles but he also showed much zeal to break past the usual conventions and set myths of fitness routines. Although Cutler was never much reliant on cardio, this one particular exercise, however, made him climb up the ladder. Instead of going the traditional way, the young Cutler chose an unconventional method that made all the difference.

Cutler’s new video shows the 50-year-old former bodybuilding beast exercising on a “new-age step mill”, to strengthen his glutes while wearing sandals. As he was doing this cardio exercise, he recalled how he used to do it in the same manner back in his competitive years of bodybuilding. He then asked about his form to the interviewer and questioned how people usually respond to him leaning forward while doing the exercise, “So you see how I’m leaning on this right now, what would they tell you about that?” The reporter replied, ” You can’t do that.”
Cutler then responded by saying, “Guess what, I always did it really. Won 2009 Olympia like this.” Then Cutler also mentioned how much time he spent on the step mill before his 2009 Mr. Olympia appearance. He said, “45 in the morning 45 at night, every day for 14 weeks 15 weeks.”
However, this very Jay Cutler once claimed that he has done many shows in his life without relying on cardio much.

As Cutler was nearing his fit-for-fifty challenge, he started questioning a lot of things, especially his physique tarnished by age. But he did not lose hope or determination as he was adamant about letting his workout speak for itself. But in the process, Cutler also revealed something very shocking.
Jay Cutler stated that as he is growing old, he wants his physique to be well-tuned and for that, he believes cardio is a must. He said, “Then I’ll start really kind of fine-tuning, and if I feel like I need to add the cardio I will.” However, he also noted that he had the capacity to do shows without incorporating cardio in his fitness regime in the past. “But as you know, I’ve done a million shows without doing cardio.”
