Gyms are modern-day fitness temples where people get into an intense workout session lifting heavy weights. But there are incidents on the web that suggest gyms can be also places of death due to lack of vigilance. According to recent reports, a young gymgoer lost his life during a gym accident while bench pressing in China.

Greg Doucette, the IFBB Pro coach, shared the video and claimed it to be ego-lifting while cautioning fans to refrain from such activities. However, the online gym community is angry with the bodybuilding coach’s statements.

Social media has been a platform for sharing great gym lifts and also disastrous accidents. A 27-year-old man from Henan province in China reportedly died after his 100 Kg bench press turned into a mishap, as per The Straits Times. Greg Doucette shared the accident clip where the man was unable to lift 100kg weights while bench pressing and succumbed when the weight bar pinned his neck to the bench.

Tragedy on the bench press, and so we have a young man. He’s actually from China. He’s attempting a one-rep max on the bench, and so, in this case, he wasn’t even close. He wasn’t able to get the weight up, and so it ended in tragedy,” the IFBB Pro coach explained in his video.

Stop ego lifting in the gym.” However, Greg Doucette’s video didn’t go well with the online fitness community, as they showed their disbelief in the coach’s video in the comment section.

And to speak about him as if you don’t even give a f*ck, is there nothing you won’t do for clicks?? Your shit used to be about education, and now it’s just clickbait and drama. I’m officially done with your content, I refuse to support someone like you.” However, appreciating Doucette’s intention to raise awareness, a fan wrote, “If someone new to the gym saw this I’m pretty sure they’d learn a thing or two.
