Despite the prevailing trend among bodybuilders to discard egg yolks, Haney staunchly advocates for retaining them in the diet.

In a recent video, Haney shared insights into his dietary choices, emphasizing the importance of aligning one’s diet with the demands of intense training. For Haney, a balanced diet is the cornerstone of a successful bodybuilding career.

Lee Haney’s perspective on eating eggs

In the snippet shared by Muscle Mind Media on their Instagram page, he tried to debunk a myth that revolves around eggs. The bodybuilding behemoth’s dietary approach involves a diverse range of foods that cater to the body’s macronutrient requirements. According to him, the key to muscle development is protein. It comes from various sources such as chicken, fish, and eggs.

 

Surprisingly, Haney revealed that during competition training, he would consume as many as 12 to 15 whole eggs a day. He challenged the phenomenon of the prevailing trend of excluding egg yolks. Haney, “never believed in just taking egg yellows away, because the fact of the matter is the egg yellow contains something called lecithin and choline.” According to him, these components possess fat-burning properties, providing a valuable asset in the pursuit of a sculpted physique.

Apart from that, according to the National Library of Medicine explain the other potential benefits of consuming choline and lecithin. The early studies found its positive effects, including improved neurological health, memory, and cognition. However, it also contains a few side effects as well. Besides advocating about eggs, he also delves into his carbohydrate choices.

He emphasized the benefits of balancing each and everything to maintain a physique even during the off-season. The bodybuilding icon believes in the power of water to keep the body clean and functioning well.

He emphasized a balanced diet provides the necessary fuel for rigorous training. While preparing for competitions he used to include sweet potatoes for energy and regularly adds spinach to his meals. The balance between hard-core training and proper diet is what propelled Haney to clinch the prestigious Sandow trophy eight times.
