Celebrated as the QuadFather, Platz often expressed his love for squats that helped him build his quads. In an Instagram clip shared by a fitness channel, the bodybuilding icon confessed that squatting is the best way to build monster quads.

Tom Platz’s quads were a sensation back in the day, and he preaches the importance of squats to build them.
In a video shared by Muscle Mind Media‘s Instagram channel, Platz declared, “Nothing is like squats.” While negating the advantage of leg presses, the icon questioned, “But why? Why do an inferior movement.” He weighed squats over any other exercises to build thighs.

He further opined that there is no use in doing movements that don’t offer any results. However, he said that people often don’t choose squats because they are “hard.” But Tom Platz is known to have lean legs in his earlier years. Despite the strenuous efforts needed, he relied on squats to bulk his thighs, and the results are evident.
The QuadFather’s extreme training regime
Muscle building isn’t an easy task, and one will agree to this fact after witnessing extreme training regimens of bodybuilders at the gym. The 68-year-old had also trained till failure during his prime to build a medal-winning physique. Despite not being able to win Mr. Olympia even once, his glory is still remembered by the bodybuilding community.

His 30-inches thighs are the result of his training till failure. “I’ve been doing 50s all the time. It was crazy like somebody was stabbing knives in my quads,” he said, revealing the number of reps he used to do.
