His journey is worth the watch and so Universal Pictures All-Access decided to do a documentary on this legendary bodybuilder. The trailer of the documentary Breaking Olympia: The Phil Heath Story is already out.

What is the documentary about?

Universal Pictures content group in association with Seven Bucks Productions and executive producers Danny Garcia and Dwayne Johnson, have announced that they will be releasing the documentary and it is going to arrive on digital platforms on March 26th, 2024. This documentary will unravel the extraordinary life of a seven-time Mr. Olympia winner as he faces his challenges and rises through the ranks of the bodybuilding world to cement his name permanently in the industry.

This documentary will showcase some never-before-told stories from his life. It even has exciting interviews with Ronnie Coleman, Dwayne Johnson, Jay Cutler, Kai Green, Brandon Curry, Dexter Jackson, and many more. This documentary is going to track some milestones in his career and show his perseverance through his injuries.

His 18-year-long career, along with his physical and mental sacrifice, is going to be documented in this series. The trailer was released on November 2, 2023, and there was another surprise that came with the trailer.

Heath might compete for his 8th Olympia

In the trailer, he was seen narrating his intention of winning a record at Mr Olympia to cement his name in the pantheon of the biggest competition in bodybuilding . The only other athletes who have eight Mr. Olympias are Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney.

The trailer has the question, “If I made a comeback what would that look like?” Return to the stage of Mr Olympia, seems on the cards for Phil Heath. The documentary is going to not only showcase his friends but also his competitors who give anecdotes about him and his struggles. The documentary is going to include his career and also the hardships that he faced in his life.

The tale of Phil Heath and his rise

The story will include the bodybuilding champion’s reign at the Olympia ranks from 2011 to 2017. The storyline will also outline the severe injury that threatened his career and also led to a time filled with depression.

In the trailer of the documentary, Heath was seen narrating one of the many devastating incidents that happened in his life. He said, “As I’m cinching my belt I feel like, a pop, and I’m like Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God.” The snippet also showed a clip where at one point the champion was inside the hospital and the voiceover was saying, He knew that this could be the end of his career.” 

Then, a devastated Heath revealed, “I wanted to k*ll myself at that point. I thought that Phil was done.” However, the champion rose like a Phoenix from the ashes, and giving up was not in his dictionary. He has not retired from the sport officially but he is not competing at the Mr. Olympias as of now. The trailer gives hope to the fans that he might try for his 8th Mr Olympia.

The trailer has already made millions of fans excited about the documentary. This might also transform the outlook people have towards bodybuilding, just like Pumping Iron had transformed the industry once upon a time.
