2023 World’s Strongest Man winner Mitchell Hooper seemingly has no limit to his strength. In the sport where lifting immensely heavy things is the name of the game, Hooper is pushing the boundaries with some of his lifts.

After finding success in sports like football, powerlifting, and coaching (strength and conditioning), Hooper found worldwide renown in strongman. The gifted athlete has had a comparatively shorter career in the sport. Yet his lifts are impressing the community. Recently, the strongman lifted a mind-boggling 400 lb stone during training. However, how he lifted it might be even more impressive.

Lifting smooth, round, and immensely heavy stones, called Atlas stones, are a staple of any strongman competition. A competitor must lift progressively heavier atlas stones and post the quickest time. Yet, lifting atlas stones is much more difficult than barbells or dumbbells of equivalent weight. However, in his recent Instagram post, Mitchell Hooper made a 400 lbs lift look easy.

While strongmen often used the most efficient technique to lift the stone to the required height, Hooper did something different. The WSM champion used his strength and mobility to lift the stone to his chest. However, instead of putting it down, the kinesiologist bent backward with 400 lbs on his chest and lifted it over his shoulders before throwing it to the ground.

The immense feat of strength made fans lose their mind. While strongmen like Scott Stoltman have lifted 600 lbs+ atlas stones, they haven’t lifted them over their shoulders. The online strongman community couldn’t fathom what they had just witnessed.

A second fan left a similar comment. “Making 400lbs look like a 24kg kettlebell. You animal,” the follower wrote. Another fan compared Hooper’s strength with concrete. “Whatever your spine is made out of, I would like my house to be made out of that as well. Thanks!” commented the astonished fan.
