IFBB pro bodybuilder and 2021 Arnold Classic Champion, Nick Walker has unfortunately spent the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 recovering from a severe hamstring injury. This happened just days before the Mr Olympia contest and all his hard work was in vain and it kept him out of the 2023 Mr. Olympia in Orlando. The competition was won by Derek Lunsford. The bodybuilding champion’s fans have been supportive of him throughout his painful journey and have yearned for his return to the competition stage.

Fortunately, he confirmed that he would return by competing in the 2024 New York Pro which is set for May 18th in Teaneck New Jersey. But will he also be participating in the Arnold Classic 2024? 

Nick Walker’s Plans for New York Pro

His decision to participate in this competition and announcement came weeks after the rumors that he would be attending the 2024 Arnold Classic in Columbus which starts from March 1-2 in 2024. But he’s decided to clear all the rumors and has said that he had no intention of entering the Arnold Classic because it would have been too premature due to his recent recovery. He also shared that he did not want any special invite to the 2024 Mr Olympia and preferred to earn his ticket to the competition that is going to be held in Las Vegas. The 29-year-old is ready for New York Pro because he scored his first IFBB win in the same contest earlier.

He is going to start with New York Pro because that is familiar and it also is going to take place in his home state of New Jersey. To qualify for Mr. Olympia, he needs to win one pro contest during 2024. Till now he has two career pro victories namely the 2021 New York Pro and 2021 Arnold Classic. He was ranked fifth and third in his Olympia appearances and in 2023 he finished second in the Arnold Classic.

The competition is scheduled for May 18th, 2024 and should he win this contest for the second time he would qualify for Mr Olympia 2024. On February 18th he published a video on his YouTube channel where he shared his back workout and different training techniques that he’s using to sculpt the perfect physique that is capable of winning the title.

  4. Chest-supported T-bar row
  5. Bend over dumbbell row
  6. Rack pull
  7. Hyper Extension

He not only is trying to get back in shape but just after he had the hamstring injury, he took help from the exercises created by Dorian Yates to get his strength back after his injury.

Nick Walker’s Route to Recovery and Exercise inspired by Dorian Yates

The former Arnold Classic Champion is not a person who gives up easily and even after a teary-eyed confession previously about his injury he still went to the expo that was held by Mr Olympia 2023. In an earlier YouTube video, he talked about his chest workout that he has taken after inspiration from Dorian Yates. This high-intensity workout concentrated on the areas of chest, bicep, tricep, and back exercises. He took breaks between the exercises and said, “ Kind of like Dorian Yates we are gonna keep it that style just more RP style with nice slow pauses contract hard to the top.”

He also took a stand in the same video that he was determined to become fit was on the route to recovery and was not going to stop his training just because of his hamstring injury. He is returning to the competition stage through New York Pro in 2024 but what else are his plans for this year?

As mentioned earlier, he would not be returning to the Arnold Classic this year because the timing would not allow his hamstring to recover faster. However, he has decided to enter the New York Pro looking to win the competition and gain his ticket to Mr Olympia. Apart from that he plans to fine-tune his physique and get the perfect diet for the chiselled physique.

For the time being he is building a gigantic physique For New York Pro and if he wins this competition then we get to see him in Mr Olympia this year.
