Nick Walker, widely known as ‘The Mutant’ in the world of bodybuilding, has been one of the favorite contenders among the modern crowd of the realm of sports. He managed to bag the third position in the Olympia last year and was placed second in the Arnold Classic this year. But things are looking very different this year.

The entire fitness community had been rooting for his win at the Mr. Olympia 2023 this year, looking at his increased drive and dedication to take home the title with him. However, he took the Internet by storm by announcing the devastating news of his withdrawal from the match, just a day ahead of the show.

Nick Walker withdraws from Mr. Olympia this year

Nick ‘The Mutant’ Walker, recently took to his official Instagram account, @nick_walker39, and shared a video of himself, where he is seen revealing the reason so as to why he will not be participating in the Mr. Olympia 2023.

He captioned the video, “It’s with a heavy heart I won’t be stepping stage this year due to unforeseen and unfortunate reasons that remind us we’re only human.” The Mutant, announcing the reason for his withdrawal, said that he just suffered from a terrible hamstring tear, and despite trying out everything that was in his hands, his condition only kept getting worse. He even tried out all the necessary treatments, but nothing would work instantly. That was why he made a collective decision with his team and decided to withdraw from the show.

He unveiled the decision to the team of Mr. Olympia, who had been absolutely supportive and he thanked them for that. By the end of the video, he breaks down and with tears in his eyes mentions how difficult this has been for him, given the smooth journey that he had been having with his prep. However, he promises to hit back stronger.

It really is beyond imagination what Nick Walker must be going through right now, having to give up on something that he has been dreaming about and working hard for the past six months. He was completely determined to become the 18th man to raise a Mr. Olympia title above his shoulders this year, without fail, and had been giving all that it took to make it happen. In a podcast of Pure B.S., he said, “In my head, I’m a winner and everyone’s behind me. I don’t think about them.”

As he hit back the stage in 2022, perfecting his V-taper and adding more mass, he bagged the third position, and ever since then, his sole motive was to settle for nothing less than taking home the Sandow trophy with him.
