Australian Powerlifting champion Tia-Clair Toomey is a true inspiration. After all, pregnancy didn’t deter her from keeping up with the drills at the gym. Toomey was blessed with a baby girl when she announced it on social media on 9th May. However, the powerlifter recently opened up about how her intense workout regime took her to the labor room. 

The 6x CrossFit Games champion’s expertise goes beyond the sport. In fact, her blog/autobiography has a section that explores Pregnancy Guidance to Staying Active. She has been able to curate mobility programs for every trimester informed by her pregnancy experiences. This time, the 29-year-old powerlifter shared an update on her Instagram as well.

Clair Toomey admits to rushing to the hospital just after the shoot

Clair posted a transformation video. In the video, the initial part showed her running with a shredded physique. However, the highlight came after the frame transitioned. 

The scene changed to show her with a visible baby bump. Toomey’s post garnered a lot of attention from social media channels including her staple gym PVRN Fitness. As an appreciation post, they shared it as an Instagram story and wrote, “This is the best video of 2023.”  

However, further re-mentioning the story, Claire admitted the hilarious truth by writing that she had to be taken directly to the hospital for delivery after the shoot of that video. “Literally went into labor after this,” the powerlifter wrote. But this was not the first time when Claire’s working out during her pregnancy has grabbed people’s attention.

Claire’s decision got mixed reactions

Throughout her pregnancy, the Fittest Woman on Earth often shared her intense workout regimes on Instagram. However, her decision to continue working out during her pregnancy has been met with both praise and criticism earlier as well. Some people believe that pregnant women should avoid intense exercise, while others argue that staying active is important for both the mother and the baby’s health.

Eventually, Claire’s decision successfully challenged the popular norms that females should stay home during pregnancy. The Australian powerlifter gave birth to a healthy child despite not skipping the workouts. Her story is a testament to her dedication, spirit, and consistency.
