In fact, the American powerlifter took part in the 2023 WSM and ended up acquiring the seventh position. Four strongman titles, ending up in the top ten before retiring – ring a bell? Sure it does. IFBB Pro Jay Cutler also won the same number of Olympias in his career. He too, like Shaw, was placed among the top ten in his last competition.
Recently, Cutler shared a video on his social media where he opened up about the coincidental similarities between them. Drawing a comparison between their winnings, the American bodybuilder thought it to be funny to have such similarities.

As per the latest episode of Cutler Cast, the former Mr. Olympia sat for a candid chat with his manager Matt where they addressed Shaw’s retirement. When Matt talked about how Shaw didn’t let his leg injury stop him from taking part in the competition, Cutler seemed impressed. He stated, “It sounds like there’s a lot of great things going on that his transition will be similar to mine. Kind of funny, because we have a lot of similarities in our career…”
Evidently, the four-time Mr. Olympia could assimilate his waning years with that of Shaw’s. “I finished six in my last and when you were just saying this he finished seventh I’m like oh my gosh I got six…”Both of them not only have the same world titles, but they also won the same Arnold Classic trophies and took retirement ten years apart. These coincidences encouraged Matt to say, “Me being around both of you I see the similarities it’s just like it’s almost Eerie it’s like he is the strong man version [of you].”

Cutler once felt small around the strongman
A few months back Shaw updated his social media featuring a workout session with Cutler. The duo talked about the training routine Cutler went through ahead of winning the Mr. Olympia titles. Into the bargain, the 49-year-old athlete candidly admitted to feeling tiny standing next to Shaw. He shared, “The reps are little different. Obviously, the weights aren’t as much as they used to be, back when I was 300 pounds. I feel small standing next you little bit.”
