Adam Driver is among the most respected new-age actors in Hollywood. The former Marine never shies away from challenging roles and has displayed a range as an actor. The driver has earned praise from critics and cinema fans after starring in films of various genres. The driver will soon star as Enzo Ferrari in the upcoming biopic of the Italian sport-car maker alongside Hugh Jackman. Adam Driver isn’t shy about changing his physique for a role either, as he went through a bodybuilding transformation to play Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

However, in 2022, the actor went through a different transformation. After working for the first time in Marriage Story (2019), the actor teamed up with director Noah Baumbach in 2022. For Baumbach’s film White Noise, Adam Driver had to do the opposite of what he did for Star Wars. During the film’s Venice premiere, Driver opened up on his journey.

Having served in the Marines, Adam Driver is no stranger to brutal training. While he had lost the fitness level he had during his service, trainer Simon Waterson commended Driver’s grit. While training to play Kylo Ren, Adam Driver had to be agile and muscular. During an interview with Mens Journal, Driver’s trained recalled the actor’s dedication to working out.

However, for Noah Baumbach’s Netflix film, the 39-year-old had to become an overweight, middle-aged man. During the 2022 Venice Film Festival, Adam Driver said he enjoyed the process. After years of hard workouts for three films, putting on weight seemed fun.

In fact, Adam Driver even embraced the dad bod.?“I am very satisfied where things are going. It was a window into the future and I am ready,”?he told reporters during the film festival.?“I put on weight,”?he said.“As a back-up, we had a back-up stomach,”?he said, but the team didn’t need it.?“It was just my weight,” the former Marine explained to reporters. However, when the role requires, Adam Driver can be disciplined. Something his trainer explained during the Men’s Journal interview.

The mindset that helped Adam Driver become Kylo Ren

Since Kylo Ren swung around a lightsaber, Adam Driver’s training had to be molded according to that need. Hence, instead of traditional bodybuilding exercises, Waterson switched things up. During the Men’s Journal interview, the trainer said he would keep the 39-year-old on his toes, mixing up bodybuilding exercises with plyometrics.
