In his latest Instagram video, Kai Greene announced his documentary KAI has launched on multiple major streaming platforms. “Weekend watch alert! Experience the triumphs, the struggles, and the determination that shaped me into who I am today,” wrote the uncrowned Mr. Olympia in the caption of his video.
The former Arnold Classic champion’s documentary, directed by Vlad Yudin, is available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Vudu. The Instagram video showed selected clips from the documentary. In one clip, bodybuilding and social media fitness icon Mike O’Hearn addressed Greene as the “People’s Champion.” O’Hearn’s statement is hard to deny as Greene has 7.4 million followers, compared to his seven-time Olympia-winning rival’s 4 million.

However, Kai Greene’s journey to become the people’s champion began in a dark place. After a troubled childhood, the champion bodybuilder landed in juvenile detention facilities. There, the youth dealt with bullying, becoming increasingly frustrated. “I thought that my anger would consume me… that there wasn’t a place big enough to hold the rage that I had in my heart,” said Greene with tears rolling down his cheeks. However, his life changed while attending a class.
Arnold Schwarzenegger gave new meaning to life
As Greene struggled with his rage and violent outbursts, one day in 1991, the 48-year-old came across a special book. One of his teachers gave Greene the Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The teacher also showed the young man Arnie’s classic docu-drama, Pumping Iron. “seeing ‘Pumping Iron’ and reading his book — changed my life,” said Greene.
